Post Chemo/Radiation

~

Well, it looks like it has been almost 2 months since I updated the record. Sorry about that. For a while there was not much to report since the Chemo had finally come to an end. But, that lead to a bit of laziness coupled with a busy life and all of a sudden, I am behind.

So, here is what is happening. Laura started radiation treatments on September 22, 2009. The treatments are at the Ogden Regional Medical Center under the care of Doctor Robert Harris, the Radiation Oncologist. The treatments take about 15 minutes each day. Today was the 15th of 30 treatments, so Laura is halfway done.

So far the treatments have gone well. There is no sick feeling with radiation like there is with Chemo. There was no noticeable change at all through the first week or so. She does get tired, like the feeling after having spent the day in the sun. She is also becoming a little sore in the treated areas. But, the biggest problem so far is the inconvenience of driving to Ogden every weekday.
The most exciting news for Laura is that her hair is finally returning. She is still wearing a scarf in public, but her hair is now about a quarter of an inch long and growing. She is really tired of the scarves so this is big news. But, it will still be a while before you see a scarfless picture of her here…
